Digital Dentistry at One Nadela
Digital tools allow many dental treatments to be scanned, visualized and planned before treatment begins. Our digital workflow supports precise treatment planning and helps patients better understand the proposed outcome.
Digital dentistry is not a single procedure you book. It is the set of tools your dentist uses to record your teeth, plan the work and show you what is proposed, before any treatment starts. If you have been told you need veneers, implants, aligners or a larger restorative plan, this page explains how that plan is made.
Digital Services We Offer
- Intraoral Scanning
- Digital Smile Design (DSD)
- 3D Printed Dental Models & Aligners
- Digital Treatment Planning for Orthodontics & Implants
What Each One Means, in Plain Language
Intraoral scanning. A small camera is passed over your teeth and gums and builds a three-dimensional model of your mouth on screen. It can replace the conventional impression tray filled with putty material that you bite into and hold still. The result is a digital file rather than a physical mould.
Digital Smile Design (DSD). A digital preview of the planned result, used as part of treatment planning. Working from photographs and scans, your dentist may be able to show you how a proposed result would look, so shape, length and proportion can be discussed before treatment starts rather than after.
3D printed dental models and aligners. Once a plan exists as a digital file, a printer produces the parts it calls for: a working model of your teeth for the laboratory, or the aligner trays themselves. This is the same digital backbone behind ON Aligners, the first robotic aligner system in the Philippines.
Digital treatment planning for orthodontics and implants. Tooth movement and implant positions are worked out on the digital model first. Guided Implant Surgery is part of our dental implants service, and planning is part of how orthodontic treatment is worked up.
Where Digital Tools Fit
Who it may help. Any patient whose treatment benefits from scanning, planning or printed models, from aligners to implants to smile design. Worth asking about if you have struggled with conventional impressions before, for example because of a strong gag reflex.
Things to consider. Digital tools support planning; they do not replace clinical judgement. Which digital services apply depends on your treatment and branch. A scan records what your teeth look like today. It does not diagnose on its own, and an examination and X-rays may still be needed alongside it.
From Scan to Result
- Intraoral scan instead of impression trays
- Digital planning of the treatment
- Digital Smile Design preview where the treatment uses it
- 3D printed models or aligners fabricated
- Treatment delivered against the digital plan
Not every case runs through all five. A single crown may need only a scan and a printed model. A smile makeover or a full mouth reconstruction is where the design step earns its place, because the outcome is agreed before any tooth is prepared.
How Long It Takes
A scan may be taken during your consultation, where the dentist examines your teeth and gums, discusses what you want to achieve, and may take photographs, X-rays or digital scans. Records and scans are the first step of orthodontic treatment too.
What happens after the scan depends on the treatment being planned, not on the digital work. Planning, laboratory fabrication and printing sit between visits, which is why your dentist gives you a visit-by-visit schedule after your assessment.
What Happens During the Digital Steps
An intraoral scan is a camera moving over the teeth. It does not involve drilling or an injection. Digital Smile Design is worked on away from the chair rather than in your mouth. Any discomfort, healing time or aftercare belongs to the treatment the plan describes, not to the digital step, and your dentist will explain what to expect at each step.
Digital Planning Compared With Conventional Impressions
Conventional impressions and planning remain available where appropriate. The differences a patient actually notices are these.
- How it feels. A camera, rather than a tray of setting material held in the mouth.
- What is produced. A file that can be stored, sent to a laboratory and printed from, rather than a physical mould.
- What you can see. Your dentist may be able to show you a digital model on screen as part of treatment planning. A putty impression cannot be shown in the same way.
- What does not change. The treatment, its suitability and its risks are the same either way. The tools change how a plan is made and shown, not what is clinically appropriate.
How to Prepare
Brush as normal, bring any previous X-rays or dental records you have, and be ready to describe what you want changed, because Digital Smile Design is a conversation about your goals as much as a technical step. We recommend booking in advance, and some treatments require an examination, X-rays, scans or treatment planning first, so a first visit is normally assessment rather than treatment.
Benefits and Considerations
Scanning is fast, and digital plans help you see and understand the proposed outcome.
A preview is a plan, not a guarantee. Clinical results depend on the treatment and healing.
Conventional impressions and planning remain available where appropriate.
What It Costs
Our published price guide does not list intraoral scanning, Digital Smile Design or 3D printing as separate items. Ask your dentist how the digital steps are covered in the quote for your treatment. The treatment itself also moves the figure: how many teeth are involved, the materials chosen and the complexity of your case.
See our treatment price guide for current ranges. Final cost depends on your dental condition, the materials used and the complexity of the case. These ranges are a guide, and your exact figure is confirmed after examination.
Availability by Branch
Contact us to confirm which digital dentistry services are available at your preferred branch. Treatment and dentist availability may differ among our branches, so ask when you book rather than assuming a service is offered at the clinic nearest you.
ON Aligners, which are planned and fabricated digitally, are available at our BGC, Makati and Cebu clinics. Visit a clinic near you at BGC, Makati or Cebu City.
Frequently Asked Questions
A digital preview of the planned result, used as part of treatment planning. Your dentist may be able to show you how a proposed result would look before treatment starts, as part of treatment planning. A preview is a plan, not a guarantee.
A small camera scans the teeth instead of conventional impression trays. No impression material is set in the mouth, and there is no drilling or injection involved in the scan itself.
Often yes. A scan records the shape and position of the surfaces in your mouth. It does not show what is inside a tooth or beneath the gum, which is what imaging is for. Digital X-rays and diagnostic imaging are part of our general dentistry service.
Digital treatment planning is offered for orthodontics and implants, and Digital Smile Design is used where a visual preview forms part of the plan, including cosmetic work and full mouth reconstruction. ON Aligners are planned and fabricated digitally.
